Glass Boats
I started my life in Asia and moved to North America and Australia. Moving to a different continent required some bravery. Each journey has started with many hopes and worries. Each time I have carried bubbly dreams about the new place and the future of my life.
This work is an 8 feet long glass boat I have been built. Before I started, I created a 3D model to plan how many bubbles and bars I would need. With the rendering, I was able to measure the amount of materials needed and length of time I should put to finish the project.
I would like to create a life-size glass boat. Inspired by my experience of migration, I wanted to visualize my hope and anxiety through the journey.
The project was granted by Ontario Arts Council. Special Thanks to the Glass Blowing Shop at the Western University.
